Sustaining Our Souls course coming soon
An update on how to get involved and learn more good stuff
Writing isn’t exactly “enjoyable,” until suddenly it is — this often lonely pursuit that has infuriating moments of stuckness also lights me up inside because I care so much about what I’m learning and sharing with you. And right now, I’m so chuffed because I’m in the midst of interviewing fellow professionals to hear their stories and experiences around socialization, alignment, and positive heartsets at work.
Already the first few conversations have shined a light on how we are each whole beings, informed by our outer contexts and inner contexts. We’re each making personal choices suited to our nature to survive the often-fraught realities of today’s business culture.
Across a career, it’s hard to transition from one type of work environment to another, each with its own ways of working.
Within an organization, groups of people usually make the decisions, although it can be frustrating how the levers of power rest in the control of one (flawed) person’s hands.
Corporations have rewarded a certain style of “leadership” and executives have even literally mocked virtues like empathy — in the face of leading research that shows empathy unlocks business value! How insane is that?
There’s gold in them-thar hills, people!
If you’re also excited about exploring this territory, I am thrilled to offer you some ways to be involved in real life!
School of the Possible course
On March 6th, the School of the Possible will hold a special “Open House” Collaboratory that anybody can join, where there’ll be previews of the next wave of courses launching soon. One of these upcoming courses is mine, about Sustaining Our Souls at Work.
This live, discussion-oriented class will share some powerful business tools and explore positive heartsets for working well with others. I’ll be using a combination of presentations offering practical approaches & tips as well as interactive discussion and exercises to illuminate the material. Logistics-wise, we’ll be meeting live for 90 minutes per week for 7 weeks. There’ll be a small fee, with a discount for School of the Possible members. I intend to keep the group small to encourage more conversation and reflection.
This class will be helpful for anybody who works in teams or groups of people to get things done, whether you’re an “individual contributor” or a “leader”. The contents may be particularly useful to those whose professional endeavors involve:
generating new understanding in others
defining novel approaches and solutions
communicating new things to other people
I envision delightful outcomes for you from taking this course, including:
seeing more success at working on the important and good things that you want to achieve in your role
interacting in more positive and productive ways with your colleagues, managers, and reports
not just staying sane, but finding ways to thrive emotionally — and conceivably, even find (or refind?) joy in your work
Just imagine what’s possible when our minds come together on these vital subjects!
Stay in the Loop!
I aim for my class to launch in late March, and will announce here when enrollment opens. Please indicate your interest with me now in this form and I’ll share the class info with you directly once it’s ready to go!
Gratitude Corner
I’m grateful my friends are sharing so much of their wisdom and experience with me, including some deeply personal and moving stories! I’m also grateful to this project for exercising my writing and providing the opportunity to lead a class — it’s truly a privilege. And I’m grateful that this Substack and my missives are connecting with people who share my goal of making the world a better place and elevating our individual consciousness along with that of the collective.
Thrilled to see where this all goes! Come along with me, and please keep sharing….
